Diagnosing Your Internet OutageUpdated a year ago
Are you new to Mythical Fibre? Click Here
Sure, you've probably heard this advice before, but sometimes it actually works! Give your router and ONT a restart. Simply turn them off for about 2 minutes, and then turn them back on again. It might just do the trick! If you've done that, and no luck, read on!
Outages
If you think there might be a fault in your area, it's best to check with your Local Fibre Company;
- Chorus
- Enable
- Tuatahi First Fibre (Ultra Fast Fibre)
- North Power
Are your other devices working?
Checking if your other devices (eg gaming console, phone or another laptop) is a good first step. If your other device is able to browse the internet, there may be an issue with your device. Try disconnecting it from WiFi and selecting "Forget This Network" (NB: You will need to reenter your password after doing this, so make sure you have it handy!)
Check your ONT
Your ONT has 4 ethernet ports, labeled LAN1-4 (Or GE1-4). Unless advised otherwise, your services will be active on LAN1. Also check the lights on your ONT. If the LOS or Optical Light is Red, contact Mythical support.
Your router should be connected via the supplied ethernet cable to LAN1.
